During the summer season – October to March – Ballarat Harriers competes in the Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre track and field competitions at Llanberris Reserve, Ballarat East. Our athletes can compete in the complete range of running, throwing and jumping events (yes, even pole vault), where they line up against other Harriers, as well athletes from Ballarat’s three other athletics clubs.
Throughout the summer season, 10 of the local track and field meets are designated Athletics Victoria meets –on these days, Ballarat Harriers’ athletes earn points for the Club towards the AV Shield, and in January our athletes can compete in the AV Shield meet at the world-class facilities at Albert Park.
Athletes have the option of competing in regional, state and national championships, in Open and age group categories. The Club currently has a number of female and male athletes representing Australia in track and field events, including Kelly Ruddick (National Champion in race walking) and Samuel Baird (Australian representative to the World Youth Games in the 400 metre sprint).
Track & Field meets commence at 1:30 pm, and conclude by 5 pm. Program information, including specific starting times for each event, are available at the Athletics Victoria website or by contacting the Club.
